Matthew and I have two new hobbies. For Christmas Santa brought us a Nintendo Wii. We enjoy playing the Wii together, it falls under the "quality time" category in our marriage. We don't have very many games but we love racing Mario Kart with people from around the world. If you want to challenge us to a race, just let us know. I'm not very good, I always fall off cliffs. Our second new hobby is bowling. Because I'm athletically challenged, it's hard to find activities we both enjoy and can do together. It's been decided that bowling would be our new family sport. (yes I am calling bowling a sport) We are so serious about bowling that we purchased our own shoes. Once you buy the shoes there's no turning back. Last week we went bowling to test out our new shoes. When it comes to sports, it's all about the shoes. You play terribly, it's okay, blame it on your shoes. This was easy to do when I had smelly bowling rental shoes. Now that I have nice new shoes I have to accept that fact that I stink at bowling. I took to doing an impression of my sad Nintendo Mii. She hangs her head down in shame, slumps her shoulders and wiggles her arms back and forth. Look at that sad, sad face. How can you not feel sorry for someone doing that face? Needless to say, Matthew doesn't feel very sorry for me no matter how hard I try. On Friday we went bowling again. My first time up I think I pulled some sort of muscle in my lower right cheek. I'm not talking about pulling a muscle from smiling too hard because of a strike either. I told my sweet husband that I was in pain and he laughed at me. Maybe it's because I told him my bottom hurt. I made my stance right then and there. "Bowling injuries are serious, okay!" He found this statement to be even more amusing. Not even my Mii impression could bring me sympathy. It may have been because that game I bowled a 130, a score significantly higher than Matthew. (when I say significantly I mean 5-10 points) In case you are concerned, my bowling injury only lasted a few hours. While it lasted, it was very serious.

How cute! 130 is an awesome score!
Karen -- I really enjoy reading the things you write... I agree... bowling injuries ARE serious. Imagine how great your score would have been if you hadn't been fighting such pain! (Mom -- I ca
Mario Kart is my favorite!! Sounds like you guys are having a blast with the Wii- were tempted to buy one!
Karen! You reminded me of your mom when you said "bowling injuries are serious injuries" that sounds like something she would say for sure. Anyway I just thought that you and Matthew might like to know that I mailed Sis. Cutler a letter today. I don't know how long it takes for the mission home to get letters to missionaries but I imagine that she will probably get it early to mid week next week. I hope you and Matt are FANTASTIC! :)
PS. no more bowling injuries okay!
